During this 3 day workshop we will forge an axe using authentic axe welding method. The aim of the workshop is to forge an axe combining antique and modern methods.
When steel was very expensive resource, most of the tools were forged from softer iron and only edged or faced with steel to give tools toughness against damage and wear. This way the price of tool was lower for buyer and forging was easier for maester as soft iron was easily moldable and therefore better material to work with than tough steel.
